Be kind – be the light in someone’s life

Sharing is caring!

“Always be kind, especially in times when it seems like everyone is giving up on each other. Love harder.” -Madeline Brewster

*Disclaimer, this is NOT a pity post. I am NOT looking for sympathy. Kind words would/will be excepted though*

Hi my friends. I will not be doing my regular introduction here but felt guilty not doing at least a hello.

This post has not been written to get pity. I said in the beginning (and have continued to say) that I will be honest with you guys.

Here’s what happened

One of my cousins had a baby 4 months ago. This little guy was a fighter right from the start, but he was very sick. He was transferred to a different province for care but was told once there his case was too advanced. So he was sent to a hospital in a 3rd province. He fought hard but sadly lost the battle. He is no longer in pain and can for the first time in his life rest easy and peaceful.

I’m sharing this story with you because life is short. I realize my blog is about body positivity, but it is so much more than that. Its about love and kindness and respect.  It’s about being there for eachother and knowing that you are never alone.

To read about things I’m grateful for follow this link— gratefulness post.

I want you guys to know that I am here for you. Life is short, but it is not to short to be kind to others and show others around you whether they be friends, family or strangers love.

Showing love can be as simple as saying hello to a stranger. Just that simple gesture can change a person’s life.

*My apologizes for the out of character post, but like I said, I want to be honest with you guys*

The sun will rise again and it will be a new and better day

Tanya xoxo

  1. A kind act a day does wonders for your mental health. I did a 30 day kindness experiment and I felt so much happier than I did when I started. I love that you wrote this. Have a wonderful day!

    1. Thanks Andrea, I always look at people when I pass them and say hi. It’s a very small act of kindness but it can make a world of difference in someone’s life. <3

  2. My condolences to you and your family. Loss is hard but especially for a baby who never got a chance to experience life.

My super friendly and nosy neighbor passed away recently. It was also unexpected and I didn’t realize I would miss his irritating ways. This too showed me how short life can be.

    1. Thank you for your kind words Sandra. It’s funny how you can not notice the difference someone makes in your life till they are gone. I’m sorry for your loss as well xoxo

    1. Thanks for your kind words Dominique. I wanted to write this post not as a “pity party” but to show that life is short, it’s important to be kind to others xoxo

  3. I used to be such a (let’s use the word BRAT) till I was 23 y/o. I got so tired of being mean and hateful that one day I just let all the negativity go. I didn’t have very many friends bc who wants to be around someone so rude and hateful. I agree with you, life is too short. I feel so much better in these last 3 years then I have felt most my life. Being known as the goody girl is better than the Brat. 🦋

    1. Way to go Charlene! Changing is hard, it really is. When I was younger I was the “slutty bitch”. People change its part of life, but sometimes its difficult because other people’s perceptions of you don’t change. Which really is a shame. I hope you’re able to enjoy life more! 🙂

  4. You are SO right! Taking a moment to be kind can make a world of difference! Thank you for the reminder. Prayers for comfort and healing for you and your family. My heart goes out to you.

    1. Thanks for your kind words Cassie. I’m just hoping people get what you got out of this post xoxo

  5. Am also sorry for your loss. It’s easy to forget about basic kindness and that we need to appreciate life’s greatness when we are running on the hamster wheel until it’s gone… Thanks for sharing 🤗

  6. Sending blessings and love to you and the family — it is never easy but you definitely see the best of people in hard times because compassion is such a beautiful human quality that it can bring some light even when things seem really awful.

  7. Life is too short to be mean to others. I wish everyone could start treating others with love and kindness. One small, thoughtful act can go a long way! Thank you for your heartwarming thoughts 🙂

    1. I completely agree with you Anna. I know everyone has bad days, that’s normal. You shouldn’t take it out on others though

  8. Love and hugs during this tough time. Being kind and loving and caring is the ultimate healer during such traumatic experiences. When little ones pass on so early or any loved one dies, it is like it opens our hearts and purges our deepest fears and pains. Showing kindness really facilitates this rough process. Cyber hugs again.

  9. Sending you all the love during this difficult time. I can’t even imagine what this must feel like. I agree that we need to be kind and not take our frustrations and anger out on others. Sometimes it is best to just take some time out x

  10. I am so sorry for your families loss firstly.

Secondly I am such a kindness and happiness advocate. I think the 2 go hand in hand.

When I lost my Mum it was the kindness of strangers that saved me some days and it was the unkindness of strangers that almost broke me. You never know what a person is going through, better to be kind x x

    1. I’m so sorry about the loss of your mother Claire. Simple acts of kindness can really change people’s day.

  11. Such a sweet and inspiring post. You are very right. We can be the light to someone else by being kind. Thank you for sharing such personal stories. It’s appreciated xxx

  12. I’m so sorry to hear about your loss – its a terrible thing that can leave you in a very dark place. I am sending so much love to you and your family. Xoxo

  13. I’m sorry for your loss. You are so right. Even the smallest act of kind nature makes a huge difference. You just never know how your smile for the grocery cashier will brighten their day. I always make it a mission to greet people when I’m out running my errands. You just never know what people are going through so it’s nice to send out positive vibes no matter what ♥️✌🏾

    1. Thanks Helen. I really wish people would be kinder to others, you really don’t know what anyone else is going through <3

  14. That’s very very sad, but you are right that the baby is no longer suffering. Always be kind – I agree.

  15. I am so sorry for the loss, for the pain and for the grief.
You are spot on with this post. I so agree with all of this. Living this life with a kind heart and raising kind hearted kids is my jam.

  16. I am sorry for your loss. And also thank you for the reminder. Some time I’m afraid I slip my tongue and hurt someone with my words unintentionally. Life is short, and I agree with you that we should use it for kindness to other people.

  17. Lots of love to your family.

Life is unexpected and you never know if you may see another sunrise.
Sharing kindness and love to each and everyone is the thing that can make someone else’s day a bit brighter and better.

Sending you lots of love. xx

    1. I completely agree Dani, that was my point for this post. Hoping people will just be kind to eachother <3

  18. Oh Tanya I am so so sorry for your loss. This life lesson you’ve learnt is so valuable and true, life is so short and wow will grief shove that down your throat. I think kindness is the most underrated thing and I’m glad you’re advocating for it. Before my dad passed away and especially when he was ill, he would always do a random act of kindness everyday. I promised that I would always do this and carry it on. This is something I massively believe in.
    Great post!
    Alex xx

    1. Thank you, I didn’t mean to make you sad. I just wanted to show that unexpected things happen and you have to live your life and be kind because you never know what life has in store. <3

  19. So sorry for your loss, especially for a life that had just begun!:( I also find kindness to be very important in our lives and to be it, to ourselves, and others around us. Thank you for sharing your story and for letting us know the simple ways we can bring happiness to others/ourselves, with just a hi:)

  20. I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s never easy no matter their age. Sending you lots of love. Remember to be kind to yourself too. xx
