Self care tips while being quarantined
Have to keep your distance from others can be a major drag. You still want to feel connected while not being able to physically connect. Take this time to focus on yourself. This includes your mental, physical and emotional wellbeing while quarantined.
Stay Connected
Like I mentioned above, take advantage of technology. Being restricted to staying home is not ideal for some. Text people, facetime, Skype, call, tweet, email. Anything so that you are able to communicate with others. This will help alleviate your fears and theres as well.
There are plenty of apps available where you can facetime people, like Zoom for example.
Do something you enjoy
Read a “>book or watch some of your favorite tv shows. Revisit your childhood and watch old favorites. (I personally love The Emperors New Groove, Beauty and the Beast, and Mulan). Pick up your knitting or crocheting, or just sit and enjoy a nice cup of tea.
Get Creative
Try a new recipe, there are loads of interesting recipe ideas on Pinterest. Make a digital scrapbook, Collect all your favorite digital photos and organize them how you like. There are apps and websites where you can create pictures on your cell phone or computer. Write or blog, if you have always wanted to start a blog why not now?
You can start a free blog on wordpress or other sites according to the Country you live in. Being creative really helps to soothe and clear the mind the mind.
Practice Grounding
Grounding uses your senses to help center and calm you. Sight, taste, touch, hear, smell. It works well for anxiety, stress and even anger.
- 5 things you can see (look around you, what can you see?)
- 4 things you can feel (Depending on location this could be snow, grass, pavement, your cat, a fuzzy blanket, your tub ect.)
- 3 things you can hear (Maybe it’s your breathing, the kids playing next door, birds outside or the bathroom sink dripping)
- 2 things you can smell (Perhaps it’s water from the faucet, your perfume, or wet dog)
- 1 thing you can taste. (Maybe you are crunching on ice chips, eating a piece of ripe fruit, or tasting a decedent chocolate cake)
Use Spotify and make a playlist of favorite songs new and old.
Spotify is great for listening to music, plus it’s free. It has loads of songs in basically every genre, and from different decades. You can create your own playlists as well and fill them with all of your favorite music.

Let’s keep going
There is still more selfcare ideas while being quarantined.
Use hand lotion
I know it’s probably drilled into your head by now to wash your hands all the time. All that hand washing and alcohol based sanitizer can really do a number on your skin. Don’t forget to moisturize your hands. You don’t want them to get cracked and bleed, that could lead to other problems.
“>Dermalogica has some nice moisturizers as well as The Body Shop.
Excercise
You may not be able to go to the gym or for a run but that doesn’t mean you have to just sit around. There are loads of excercises that don’t require equipment and you can do at home. Yoga, sit ups, pushups, burpees (I loath them), jumping jacks. Get creative and use items around your house as weights.
Meditation
Work on finding your center, relaxing your mind and focusing on the moment you are in. Not things that could or have happened. Be present, right here, right now.
If you’re not great with meditation (like me, I’m pretty bad) you can find a plethora of guided meditation videos on YouTube that will help walk you through it.
Jess uses videos off YouTube for guided meditation so she will know more than I do.
De-Clutter
Just because you are self quarantined it doesn’t mean you can’t be productive. Sort your emails, organize your closet, match all the random Tupperware you have in the drawer, (We all have a random plastic container space with mismatched lids, don’t lie and tell me you don’t).
Go through your cell phone and delete old pictures, contacts and files you no longer need. Do a “social media cleanse” and delete accounts that are inactive or no longer serve a purpose in your life. Be ruthless with this one!
Spend time with your pet
Pet therapy is a real thing. Petting an animal helps create a calming effect. Plus not only is it enjoyable for you, but your pet(s) love it too! Chin scratches, butt scratches, playing catch or fish (as the picture below shows my cat chewing on her fish Franklin).
Or perhaps just cuddling on the couch while you watch a movie and your fur baby watches you, or sleeps. Haha. Either way, their happy ๐

Remember this
Remember you are not alone. There are a lot of people being quarantined right now. We are all alone together. Oxymoron I know, but it’s true.
Now is the time we should be supporting each other. We can get through this together.

We’re in this together my friends,
Tanya xoxo
This is a really helpful and positive post, thank you for sharing Tanya! I agree, there is so much we can still do indoors and itโs a great opportunity to get creative and do the things we usually donโt have time for. Itโs so important to keep in contact with friends and family too as isolation can be lonely โ thank you for the reminder to stay connected โค xx

Great tips hun!! This really is an insane time, the sprogs are off school which makes things even harder so doing my best to home school!! X
I know! Some places here have canceled school for the remainder of the year.. :$
This is a great post, staying in touch is really important!, Remembering itโll pass is really important.
I agree! Thanks for reading Charlie ๐
Brilliant article. Definitely a time to start sorting!
Rosie xx
Thanks for reading Rosie! <3
Great tips! It really is a scary time, Iโm not scared of the virus so much, more how selfish and greedy so many people seem to be! Thankfully my job allows me to work from home, so being able to work and stay in touch with my co-workers through video calls and group chats really helps. So I agree itโs definitely really important to keep in contact with friends and family etc.
Hi Hollie! I’m really glad you have the option to work from home, I know I wish I did. Yes, I dont agree with how some people are responding
Tanya, I liked how you said we are all alone together, it’s so true. I believe this situation is another opportunity for us all to come together because for past three or four years, it’s seems like people have been divided. You listed great self-care tips! I’m going to tackle reading some of my self-development books and fashion magazines! Stay safe sisโค๏ธ

Thanks Natonya!I really appreciate that. <3
Wow lovely
๐
Such great tips!! Stay safe โค
Thanks! Same to you xoxo
I think these are important things to do for yourself during these scary times. Also, if youโre healthy and just self isolating, itโs important to still try to stick to a schedule and have some goals to work on. And especially exercise ๐
Exactly. You don’t want to end up with more problems
Thanks. Iโm trying to hang in there, but my mental health has been really bad. Iโve had some other things going on in my life on top of a global pandemic and economic downturn. Iโm trying to hold on, but Iโm in a really dark place right now.
I’m so sorry Ren. It’s a pretty rough time for a lot of people right now, not that knowing that makes it any easier. I’m around if you want/need to talk <3
I love this post. At a time like this it can be very stressful for a lot of people. When the world is in a panic you have to try your hardest to remain calm and centered. I believe all these tips are great. My main focus through this time period is to mediate , be creative and get organized. These are areas I need work on and I believe this in the perfect time to do it. Thank you for this post.
Thanks Arteria! I think all of your ideas are really good ones.
These are great suggestions. You must feel quite prepared for this after the last few months youโve had with your injury and surgery. Hope you are still healing nicely.
Haha, ironic isn’t it? As far as I know my work is still open. I start back Monday. Stay safe xoxo
This is a very positive and upbeat post! Something we all need to read right now! Great ideas too! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Sharon, that’s very kind of you to say ๐
Great ideas! Music is the source of my sanity, so I have a few different playlists put together right now depending on my mood and what Iโm currently doing โ playlists that I can enjoy while writing, during more mindless work, working out, housework, etc.
Me too! I LOVE Spotify. I have like a 90s mix, back in high school mix (2004-2007), meditation, stuff from my 20s and stuff I enjoy now. Lol. I’m really enjoying Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swifts album Lover. Lol. If always had a very eclectic taste in music. I also love opera and heavy metal. Haha
What a lovely post! Iโm using this time to get creative and spend more time with the dog
That’s great Ash! I bet your dog enjoys it as well. What creative things are you working on?
I plan to spend this weekend decluttering. I totally agree with our need for self care especially now.
I don’t have anything to declutter. We did it before our last more and have really acquired anything new. Lol. It really does give a freeing feeling though!. I hope you can make some progress
Iโm back lolโฆ my friends and I had a virtual party through the app Zoom last weekend. It was so much fun. We all dressed up and had our favorite beverage and got in front of our cameras and phones and caught up.
That’s a fantastic idea Shana! Way to make lemonade out of lemons ๐
The advice I need right now. Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful and positive post. I’m really struggling right now and feeling more anxious than ever. I’ve written a blog post explaining my feelings and how I plan to go about my daily life in the hopes I might feel better but it’s not helped yet sadly.
Kate | thelittlecrunch.co.uk
I’m sorry you’re having a rough time Kate. You’re definitely not alone at the moment. Lots of people are in the same boat. Not that knowing that really makes a difference. Make sure to keep in contact okay? I always respond when I am able. Please remember you’re not alone. <3
Something we all needed rn ๐
I agree! People are getting squirrelly
This is such a great post! I have been working from home and self isolating and it is so hard. This post is packed with wonderful things to do I will need to give them a try in the next few days
Thanks for reading, I hope you find some of these ideas helpful
This post had some fantastic ideas!! Staying connected for me is a life-saver! Even if you live with family, itโs so nice to be able to talk/text/video chat with friends or other family. The cabin fever can be so real and it really affects my mental health. And I love that you mentioned using lotion after washing your hands! I keep forgetting and now my hands are dry and ugh. So Iโm trying to make it a point to use lotion AFTER I wash/sanitize my hands. And spending times with pets/cuddling is ALWAYS a must! Especially now!
Thank you for posting such wonderful and warm tips in this crazy time in life. I really appreciate it and Iโm sure so do others โค
Emily | http://www.thatweirdgirllife.com
Thanks Emily, I really appreciate you saying that. Haha, I worked in health care for 12 years, with all the hand washing lotion is on my mind <3
Yes yes yes! Disney+ and a bit of self care are dragging me through this quite happily! Tried baking today, but the mess really wasnโt worth the effort lol
Hahaha. I forgot how funny The Emperors new groove is. If you haven’t watched it I highly recommend it. Also the Mandalorian. Was what you baked at last tasty? ๐
Oh yeah, Iโm a go big or go home kinda girl, so we baked cheese straws, sausage rolls, cheese & herb bread rolls & a huge apple crumble. Snacks sorted for a few days at least ๐
We watched that this morning, it is so so funny!
Well it sounds like it was worth the mess to me ๐
This is very insightful and informative. I really appriciate your help. Thanks for the tips .Will use them.
My pleasure ๐

Girl, I gotta get with the hand lotion train. My hands are so dang dry now it ain’t even funny!
Ah! Moisturizer those hands! Right now! The prior health care worker in me wants to give you a slue or reasons. Lol
Haha I am just so lazy. I need to have a bottle of lotion next to the soap so that after I dry my hands I can lather.
A lot of people have that. Haha, dont make me list reasons to lotion up. Cause you know I will ๐
๐ donโt worry Iโve started!
๐
Excellent post with great ideas! Can I second the use of hand lotion? Because we’re washing our hands more often it’s important to use hand cream/lotion so that they don’t dry out!
Stay safe!
Absolutely Nyxie <3. You stay safe as well
I’ve been trying to exercise every day and so far so good. I’m focusing on self care and working on adapting better habits on hopes when this is over, they’ll stick!
Yay! I know you can do it ๐
Thank you! fingers crossed! lol
Fx! <3
